Full Moon vs. Non-Full Moon Nights

Booking a tent on non–full moon nights is much cheaper compared to full moon nights. Because of high demand during full moon nights, tent prices go up significantly. However, if you visit a day or two before the full moon, you can save money and still enjoy the glowing beauty of the salt desert. So, my advice — especially if you’re on a budget — is to avoid visiting Tent City on the actual full moon night. Pick a day close to it instead.

Personally, I always plan my trips just before the full moon because tents are easier to book and much more affordable. That said, I did experience one full moon night at Dhordo, and it was absolutely unforgettable.

During December and January, it gets very cold, with temperatures sometimes dropping below 10°C. If you’re from India, warm clothes are necessary, and even if you’re an NRI or foreigner, it’s better to carry light woolens.
